The 59th annual CASI Terlingua International Chili Championship gathers at Rancho CASI de los Chisos, 80 Mariposa Mine Rd in Terlingua, November 3 through 7, 2026, continuing the original 1967 desert cookoff tradition. Public contests run Tuesday through Friday across eight world-class food events, including Cooking for CASI chili, Anything But Chili, a margarita contest, and Scholarship Day salsa, hot wings, and beans, before Saturday's invitational Terlingua International Chili Championship for CASI-qualified cooks. Advance gate tickets cover multi-day entry with dry camping and no hookups included, plus nights of live bands and karaoke under Big Bend stars. The ranch sits on the north side of Highway 170 between Study Butte and Lajitas. Operators staging near Mariposa Mine Road and the Highway 170 ranch gate see chili-and-beverage demand spike on Scholarship Friday and again Saturday championship judging when the desert crowd peaks.
